Introduction of AMOTA
The Association of Meteor Observers in and around Tokyo Area (AMOTA)
is one of the amateur astronomical association in Japan.
AMOTA was established in 1974, as the regional organization around
the district of the Capital, aimed to exchange the obtained data on
visual meteor observation.
Till at present, AMOTA has been expanding its activities. More than
60 of general meetings has been held, in which around 500 theme of
subjects have been presented and discussed. They are for instance,
the summary of the annual main meteor showers and minor showers
observed by memberships and others in Japan, the discussion for
correcting method for visual observation, chronicle articles
mentioned meteors or comets in 16c in Japan.
Escaping from light polluted Tokyo Area, temporal observations and sky
watching parties are sometimes held.
In addition to the above meetings which is held in March, June
and November, the orientation named Meteor Orientation is also held in
June or October every year where the public are invited.
AMOTA includes about 100 memberships covering all ages and levels of
interesting in meteor astronomy, and is open to anyone interested.
