The 72nd AMOTA Meeting

The 72nd AMOTA General Meeting was held on 26th November, 2000 at the NOMYC ( National Olympic Memorial Youth Center) in Tokyo, Japan.
Around 30 persons including some students of the senior high school joined into the Meeting in which below subjects were presented and discussed.
1. Summary Reports of Leonids and Taurids 2000 based on the Domestic Data

The weak activity compared with last year was observed for Leonids in 2000 in Japan. Owing to the disturbance by the moonlight, maximum activity just reached HR 30 was collected in 17-18 November (JST).

2. Summary Reports of Leonids 2000 from the International Data

Because the 3 peaks predicted by Dr. D. Asher and Mcnaught came true in this year, expected great activity would break out in 2001 in the East Asia

3. The Guidance for Geminids 2000

5. Meteor Camera System Chopped by the LCD Shutter
By Mr. Shigeru YAEDA

Meteor camera system with LCD (liquid crystal device) shutter instead of the mechanical rotating shutter made by the author got the 2nd picture in Leonids. The code of appearance time was clearly recorded in the meteor pass.

6. The Discussion of Leonids Activity 2001 in Japan

Looking forward to the predicted great activity of Leonids in 2001 in Japan, the questionnaire survey was gathered as below. Rather pessimistic opinions occupied among the members. Each ( ) means the numbers of voted person.
