The 68th AMOTA Meeting

The 68th AMOTA General Meeting was held in parallel with the Meteor Orientation 1999 for Perseids on 20th June at the National Olympic Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo. Below presentations were shown and discussed for 35 numbers of participants.

1. What's AMOTA.

The history and the purpose of the AMOTA were simply explained for beginners.

2. The Guidance for Perseid Meteor Shower in 1999.

Its conditions, the expected peak time and the weather forecasts were presented.

3. The Summary Report of Lyrids in 1999.
by Mr. Kouji NANIWADA

Owing to the bad weather in April, few data was obtained on visual observation.

4. The Summary Report of Eta Aquarids in 1999.

The average activity was observed based on the gathered and collected data.

5. Meteor Showers more than HR100 Observed in Japan from 1989 to 1998.

37 of individual records were in the NMS data. The maximum HR in the same period was HR 370 observed in 1991 Perseids.

6. Meteor Shower of Corona Borealis in February.

The similar orbits as the above minor shower were obtained in searching the data base. C/1947V1 HONDA might be regarded as the mother comet.

7. Introduction Foreign Papers.

THe results from radar observed at the Ondorejov Observatory in Czech in these 40 years were shown.

8. The Guidance for Orionids in 1999.

In order to escape the bad condition in this year, the observation on visual after lunar set would be admired.

9. The Guidance for Pons-Winnecke Related Shower and Giacobinids in 1999.

Although both showers' activities would be rather weak in 1999, observations would be necessary.

10.The Guidance for Leonids in 1999.

Looking back the situations of the crowd, traffic jams and unstable weather occurred in the night of Leonids in the last year, counter-measures to meet what at Leonids in this Autumn were given.
